Frequently Asked Questions
Who would be considered a KLSC member?
KLSC members come from a diverse range of organizations, including life sciences companies, non-profits, and city or regional government agencies. They include founders, C-suite executives, and, for life sciences companies, hiring managers.
What is an industry partner?
An industry partner is a KLSC member who works at a life sciences company.
What is a community partner?
A community partner is a KLSC member who is not an industry partner. They typically work in workforce development or economic development organizations, educational or research institutions, or within the government.
How many members does KLSC have?
Approximately, there are 65 industry partners across 55 companies and 175 community partners across 100 organizations.
What is a Next Gen Sector Partnership? Why does KLSC use this model?
A Next Gen Sector Partnership brings together companies in a common industry and labor market to work together with education, workforce development, economic development, and community organizations. The core reason KLSC uses this model is that it centers on an Industry-Driven Agenda, which means the partnership’s work is entirely driven by business leaders, not by grant requirements or public programs. To achieve this, KLSC industry partners serve on Action Teams whose composition and work are driven by industry leaders.
How many industry partners currently serve on the Action Teams?
Approximately 40 industry partners currently serve on Action Teams.
How do members across so many companies and organizations stay connected?
KLSC uses a platform called Civic Roundtable to facilitate conversation and resource sharing across the collaborative and within its specialized teams. Among other things, Roundtable serves as a one-stop-shop to search for valuable information, meet through video-conferencing, and view and manage events.
One of the benefits of Roundtable is that it is not open to the general public; instead, it is a private space for colleagues to share opinions, workshop programs, and drive coordinated action.
